A Family Tradition

Karas Fish Tavern is a real family affair, as three brothers run it.

Chris is in the kitchen, Aristos is the host front of house, and Captain Kostas

supplies the catch from the family’s fishing boat every day.

The name Karas is synonymous with quality fresh fish,

and this restaurant is highly regarded as one of the best restaurants in Cyprus.

So purely on reputation, it is a Cypriot’s favourite and people

travel from all over the Island to eat here.

The Best of Fish Meze

The specialty is Fish Meze, a seasonal selection of seafood

dishes cooked to perfection and served slowly to enjoy at your own pace.

Alternatively, you can create your own Meze or choose an individual fish from the fresh fridges,

selecting how it should be cooked.

Fresh favorites include Kourkounes, Grouper,Red Mullet, Lavraki, Gopa,

Calamari, Cuttlefish, Prawns, Mussels, Oysters, and occasionally, Blue Fin Tuna caught by family friends.

For a special treat, try the highly recommended oven-baked Sea Bass in Salt Crust.

There is also a full menu of traditional Cypriot and International dishes, with family recipes passed down and perfected over the years – Kleftiko,  which falls off the bone, Moussaka, and authentic grills.

In addition, there is a tasty children’s menu, a Take-Away and Delivery service.

30 Years of Tradition and Hospitality

As we celebrate 30 years of our restaurant, we remember our beloved father, Antonis Karas, a legendary figure in the football club of Anorthosis Famagusta.

Amidst his busy life, he found solace in fishing in the blue waters of Kapparis with us, his three boys, aboard his boat “The Old Lady.”

He shared stories of Famagusta’s rich history and taught us the art of fishing, passing on ideals of respect and appreciation.

In 1995, faithful to tradition and the sea, he opened our traditional fish tavern, embodying honesty, loyalty, and fairness.

Today, we, Aristos, Kostas, and Christos, proudly continue his legacy, extending the warmth of our hospitality to you with heartfelt gratitude.

The group has been active since 1995 in the tourism and catering sector.

It has various businesses in the free province of Famagusta (Kapparis), such as the tourist accommodation Captain Karas Apartments, The Lazy Lemon Poolbar, the Pig N’ Whistle Pub, the restaurants Just Italian, Magazaki, the Kalifi Beach Bar, the dessert shops Pahit Ice and My Cookie Dough, and the wine and spirits store Wine & More Kapparis.

The flagship of the group is the Karas Fish Tavern.
